Mother and daughter create 'A Perfect Opportunity'
Darlene Panzera’s new short story “A Perfect Opportunity” is a wonderful example of romance in the real world. The moment Sarah threw down her tools and stomped over to the handsome handyman bachelor next door (with a bribe of homemade cookies, of course) you know they were meant to be together. Matt is a divorcee who’s just trying to reconnect with his teenage son. Sarah, on the other hand, is a very organized and independent widow with a teenager of her own. On impulse, she invites Matt to her son’s birthday party where she learns how chaos and the new neighbors fit into her life. If you’re looking for a sweet contemporary about real life romance, this is the story for you. I’ve interviewed Ms. Panzera and this is what she had to say: Can you tell us a little about yourself? “I was born and raised in New Jersey. I lived in the small town of Farmingdale until the 3rd grade when my family moved to Wall Township. (Close enough to ride my bike to BelmarBeach on the Jersey Shore.) I graduated from Wall High School and moved to Washington State six years later when I was 24 (with my husband Joe Panzera from Marlboro who I'd married the year before). I was a dental assistant for ten years. I have 3 kids and my daughter and I have been working as a team. Samantha is going to college for multi-media and photography, which comes in handy to create book trailers, websites, bookmarks, and other promo.” How many books have you written? “I have two ebooks out: "A Perfect Opportunity" out now with Books to Go Now, and I will re-release "A Look of Love" with a new publisher (Books to Go Now). I have several other full length novels and short stories completed which I am in the process of trying to get published.” Are you currently working on any new books? “I am currently working on more short stories and full length novels for both sweet contemporary and inspirational publishing markets.” How and when did you start in the writing industry? “I have always been a writer. I loved writing essays and short stories in school. I began my first novel at age 14 but began to take writing more seriously in 2003 when I signed up for a correspondence novel-writing course from Writer's Digest School. I joined RWA in 2005 and two years later took a writer's course from The Christian Writer's Guild School.” What affiliations do you have? “I am currently the 2011 President of the Peninsula Chapter of Romance Writers of America, and a member of the Greater Seattle Chapter.” What is your advice for aspiring writers? “Write because you love it. Writing takes lots of time and hard work. Buckle down for the long haul and someday, all your perseverance and persistence will pay off. Stay on top of the dream and don't let go. You CAN do this!”
As mentioned above, Ms. Panzera is the pen behind these sweet contemporaries, but her daughter Samantha is the artist behind the book cover. Darlene’s bookmarks and video (available to view on her facebook page or youtube) are just a few of Samantha’s creations. With her fresh new talent, this young lady shows great promise in creating and designing media and promotional materials for any authors who she takes on.
